Here is this weeks “Sunday” Sevens post, linking up to Natalie to give a snap shot view of how the last week has gone.
Well time has absolutely flown this year and now it is time for the last “Sevens” post of 2017!!
We managed to be quite good with posting our sevens posts this year, 39 posts throughout the year which definitely isn’t bad for us considering how variable our schedules are.
Here are some posts from the last two weeks of festivities, most of which is has been quite busy and mostly not involving technology which is quite refreshing.
In the run up to Christmas there was some last minute crafting (naturally…) with Nikki making a number of bags of different types, including a few Christmas sacks as we were trying to reduce the amount of wrapping paper we used this year as it just gets thrown away straight away. 🙁
Nikki also bought a couple of early Christmas presents for the flat in Norwich to make it more homely with two pictures to hang in the lounge and bedroom, these along with a bed frame and sofa-bed mean it’s starting to get all cosy.
This year Christmas was spent in different places as Nikki spent Christmas with Philip before joining the family for the new year period. But we all had lovely Christmas trees and decorations.
and naturally the festive period was filled with lots of food and gatherings, Nikki made some penguin appetisers on two occasions which went down a storm.
2 Jigsaw puzzles have been completed so far, this one was a bit of a challenge as the pieces didn’t all have connectors on them, some of them just laid next to each other…
There’s been a number of sourdough loaves baked recently as well as our parents went on a baking course and now we have sourdough starters. These are going down well with the selection of cheese and chutneys around at Christmas.
We also both had stitching santas to unwrap (which we will blog about separately) which was a nice crafty thing for Christmas day 🙂
There was also a whole range of christmas presents, Pippa made me a pyrographed cheese board, we also had a small zoo of felted egg cosies, which are rather ecletic, and I managed to get the wrapping perfect for part of her stitching christmas present. 🙂
Pippa has started her blanket as a Christmas Eve cast on, and already she’s almost knitted as much as I’ve done on my blanket!!
We hope you all have had a lovely Christmas time whatever you have been up to and took the time to relax and treat yourself to some you time. Best wishes for the New year and 2018!

Thanks for sharing your Christmas. Love Nikki’s cheese board and would love to see a bigger picture of the penguins – what are they made from?
🙂 Thank you, I need more practice with the pyrography but I do think that it turned out quite well if I do say so myself :p
Hopefully you can see the image I just posted on Instagram of the penguins, They are made with olives and mozzarella, I’m sure Nikki can produce the link for the instructions if you want to see it.
Yes, you made an excellent job of the pyrography. Hopefully by now you’ve spotted that I’ve spotted the IG post. Thanks you!
Lovely pictures of your week. You have been very busy – and I love the penguin!
I have a new sourdough cookery book by Emilie Raffa who blogs as the clever carrot. The recipes are brilliant. If there’s a bad one I haven’t found it yet .
Ohh I might have to check out her blog then. I have just been using the basic recipe from sourdough.co.uk but will look to try new recipes soon.
Isn’t the penguin army great, they are always a talking point. 🙂
They are so easy too – so little kneading and fuss. Wonderful. Have you come across Fig Jam and Lime Cordial? Celia was the reason I starter making sourdough bread – and supplied Emilies starter .
Your penguin army is awesome. Truly impressive
No I haven’t – I have just googled them and will spend some time reading back through the blog I expect.
I have a feeling that 2018 might be the year of baking the last two days have produced my best sourdough yet and very tasty sourdough “flavoured” Pizza bases 🙂
Love the penguins – great idea as long as people like olives of course, which I do.
Unfortunately I’m not a fan of olives 🙁 But I still enjoy making them! I will have to see if I can come up with some other similar design made from ingredients I actually eat!
