Here is this weeks “Sunday” Sevens post, linking up to Natalie to give a snap shot view of how the last week has gone.
We are almost at 100 Monday Sevens posts… I do have to say that I am glad to have a push every week to put something on the blog as I am sure there would have been a long period recently where nothing would have been posted. Hopefully as Nikki emerges out of her Thesis induced confinement and summer reaches our bleak shores the number of posts on the blog will increase. Especially as we manage to document some of our recent makes in actual sunlight!
This week started with our mothers birthday. Unfortunately, neither of us could be down there for it but we sent a lovely bunch of flowers down to her and the painting that you might have caught a glimpse of in last weeks post. Apparently they were much appreciated 🙂
I have been trying to get out walking a lot more recently. It is quite easy in Poole as there is quite a bit of green space just a short walk from the house, but I’m not sure that Poole Council really understands bike routes…
We have finally got some sunny weather this week, which meant that my nice summer dress could get a chance to be worn. It certainly is bright B-)
Thursday was a bit of a trek from Poole back to Southampton, straight to the Hospital for my Physio. Then shopping, it was nice to finally get back home to relax/help Nikki with her Thesis…
And to cook her a lovely nice healthy alfresco meal…
I also used the nice weather to get some planning in, it was nice to sit in the garden. Thankfully our table is in the shade in the morning so it wasn’t too hot or blinding. Unfortunately the same cant be said for the rest of the garden after about 11am so when Nikki wanted to have her lunch in the garden, some form of artificial shade had to be constructed!
With the nice weather continuing on Friday I took advantage of the sun to go out and walk in Southampton, again we have some nice green spaces a short walk from the house and after living here for 10+ years I still found somewhere that I have never been before, literally 5 mins from the house!
Taking full advantage of our little bit of summer I made some lollys with some very healthy smoothie mix from sainsburys (it contained Carrot and Butternut Squash) using our great reusable Ice Pop moulds from Ikea, we might have to buy some more of them…
The weekend I was out on the committee boat for Sunsail which was quite nice but no where near the lovely weather we had during the week. Some how I seem to have failed to take any photos of the weekend, but youll have to trust me there was the most amazing lighting storm over the Solent. Unfortunately it started to hit just as we were about to go out to our evening formal dinner (approx 1900h) but it carried on till at least 0130h in the morning!
Did anyone else experience the wonderfull summer style thunderstorm? Is summer finally here yet or are we going back to winter again?

Lovely to see you sunning yourselves especially as I’m heading down to your neck of the woods on Thursday (Bournemouth) – I don’t want any thunderstorms though no matter how pretty especially not when I’m flying over.
Ooh nice. But yeah you don’t want thunderstorms when your flying.
Unfortunately I’m working in Portsmouth at the end of the week otherwise I’d say we should have got coffee.
I won’t tell you that it’s got chilly here again atm.
Not sure if I understood your comment about bicycle routes because that is a ‘no cycling’ sign. And yes I remember the thunderstorm. It was so loud that it was quite scary. I wondered about the roof and the plants in the garden but all seemed okay in the morning.
Lol shows how much I know about highway code signage (I don’t cycle or drive) but it is signposted “cycle route” in the opposite direction, with no additional no cycling signage. So obviously you can cycle down those stairs but not up…
Still wouldn’t like to have to carry my bike up them they were steep enough on foot.
Ah, eating outside is just the best – love how unaccustomed we are to it that a permanent means of shade is not a widespread thing! Is this Nikki’s final year then? What’s next? Bet your mum’s thrilled with the painting – I need to drop bigger hints to my sister for the ones she did on her painting holiday….
