So I am planning on taking part in Me-Made-May again this year, I always have big plans for it but never seem to follow through for the whole month. Hopefully I can this year, my calendar is looking a bit less busy at the moment than normal.
The aim of Me-Made-May is, well anything you want it to be.
Me-Made-May’18 (#MMMay18 for social media interaction) is a challenge designed to encourage people who sew/knit/crochet/refashion/upcycle garments for themselves to wear and love them more. This challenge works on both a personal and community level. The participants decide the specifics of their own challenge, so that the month is appropriate and challenging for them (more on this below), and aim to fulfil that pledge for the duration of May 2018. Some participants also choose to document their challenge photographically (though this is in no way compulsory for taking part) and share them with other participants.
Zoe, So Zo What Do You Know
Normally I have problems with completing the challenge I set myself because I have a lot of sailing lined up and when I am working I have a set “uniform” that I have to wear and my makes never really fit into that. But this year I don’t actually have that much lined up in May yet so there is hope.
Currently, only 4 sailing events although that is 12 days on the water… I might have to see if I can whip up some leggings before then…
- This year I am planning to challenge myself to
- finish off a lot of the half-finished projects that I have, or almost finished items.
- Sew mostly from my stash
- Sew more everyday wear (read, Trousers!)
- Ditch some of my RTW and Hand-made wardrobe that isn’t getting worn
- Document what I wear and whether it worked or not
- Photograph any Me-Mades I wear that haven’t been documented yet.
Not that I like setting myself a challenge!
But my actual Me-Made-May pledge is:
‘I, Pippa of Beads and Barnacles, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’18. I endeavour to wear at least one Item of Me-Made clothing each day in May 2018 and try to wear as many Me-Mades as possible each day’
Is anyone else planning to take part? Let me know if you are, and how.
Well done for accepting the challenge. I did it some years back and found taking daily photos to record it was the hardest part. Because of that I’m not officially joining in but will take the opportunity to check out my ‘me-made’ wardrobe.
Yeah the photography part can be hard. But it isn’t an essential part of the challenge.
I’m doing much better than I thought I would. But I think the next two days of sailing week be my off days.
