Here is this weeks “Sunday” Sevens post, linking up to Natalie to give a snap shot view of how the last week has gone.

*klaxons*
So Nikki here with this milestone post – Monday Sevens #100! That’s quite a few weeks of posting!

Although we might not have managed a post last week (I do have good reason though!) so here is a little catch up of some things we’ve been up to over the last few weeks. I hope to do a bit more of a recap post at some point soon as well!

Well the last 2 weeks have been a mix of crazy busy working and comparatively blissful relaxing and doing whatever I want to!

This week I actually handed in my PhD thesis!!!!!!!! 😀 (okay so this is only the copy for examination…but I am soooo relieved to have finally got that far! It’s been exceptionally tough over the last 4 years, but now the end is actually in sight! 20180502_130007

Three copies printed (plus one for me) – this took over half an hour on some pretty industrial printers! Sorry trees…

All bound and handed in… It looks pretty boring on the outside. I mean it’s also pretty boring on the inside…

So that’s was by far the biggest thing to happen for quite a while. But was else did we get up to?

I spent far too long sat in front of what my friend called ‘mission control’ but hopefully it will be a few weeks before I have to sit down and do any more work.

I also decided I needed a little bit of a pick me up and fresh feeling after our grandfather passed away so I got rather a large haircut… (I had been thinking of it for a while, but just decided to actually do it recently). This was almost 18″ of hair cut off!!

Pippa was away for a few days sailing, she even got to stay in a hotel one night instead of on the boat. In a very quaint hotel on the island, definitely worth it for the breakfast, smoked salmon and scrambled egg…!

She also did some sailing for fun for the first time in a long time! Back racing for the warsash spring championships and they won both days of the weekend, some nice champagne to go in the drinks cupboard for the end of season party.

Naturally we’ve been celebrating the fact that I have got my thesis written! Lots of champagne has been drunk, nice food has been eaten and cocktails with friends. 🙂 and of course lunch at IKEA…

We’re also both taking part in me-made-may (#mmmay) this year so expect some round up posts about what we’ve been wearing. This is rather difficult on my part as most of my makes are either bags or latin dresses… so I’ve been trying to make a few more items that I can wear on a day to day basis.

This bank holiday weekend has also been absolutely glorious (and I’m so glad I’m not still writing!!) It’s been filled with sewing, gardening, enjoying drinks in the garden and the tastiest homecooked rotisserie chicken.

Hope you guys have all had a wonderful long weekend (in the UK) and hopefully good weather elsewhere. 🙂

I’m so glad the U.K. got a big dose of sunshine – and over a bank holiday weekend too! We Brits are so appreciative of the sun when we finally get some and the pleasure in it that everybody feels is palpable. I just wish that some of the men wouldn’t feel the need to strip off to their torsos immediately in public places other than the beach – it’s usually the least appealing ones who do it too. I was over in Bournemouth the week before last so missed the good weather and it hasn’t been great in the South of France 🙁
Congratulations on finishing your thesis – it must be such a weight off your mind.
Your hair looks lovely and was probably also (literally) a weight off your mind in the recent high temperatures 🙂

Hahaha. xD That made me chuckle, so very true though, the slightest whiff of good weather and everyone strips!
Oh I hope the weather in France improves! It has been a little hot for my liking though, I burn easily so it means I can’t really be outside in the middle of the day, and I was planning on gardening 🙁

Thank you! When I first got it in I wasn’t sure how to feel, but now I’m so so so much more relaxed, been getting in lots of sewing!! 🙂 I still have a long way to go with it, but I get a few weeks mostly to my self.
The hair is super different, although I have had it this length a number of years ago, I really like it but it does actually require me to style it…

A big hurrah from me on your achievements. You must be very happy to have your thesis done now.
    I like your new haircut!
Well done to Pippa too. Always good to have champagne tucked away .
Enjoy the weather for as long as it lasts.

Thanks! Yeah it’s so nice to have it done for now. I did wonder if I would ever actually get to this point. Still a long way til I’m a dr but it’s a huge step closer!

We have been making the most of the weather, especially as I’ve been cooped up writing for so long. Although I’ve also been getting in quite a lot of sewing which is inside…but it’s fun 😛

Your hair looks great and so healthy! Did you donate it to charity? The Bank Holiday sunshine was clearly a reward for finishing your thesis – I can almost feel you relaxing from here. Oh, please do wear a Latin dress every day in May – just because you can!!

Thanks! Yeah I will be (haven’t actually got round to sending it off yet…) I’m surprised at how much darker it looks now I’ve cut the bottom off.

It was quite a lovely change in the weather, definitely trying to get in lots of relaxing! haha I feel like wearing a latin dress might be a little impractical! But I am making some progress on other me made items to go in my wardrobe!
