Christmas Making

      4 Comments on Christmas Making

So you may have seen a few things that we have posted in various Sunday Seven posts showing some of our makes for Christmas presents. There has been quite a bit going on in the background so I thought that I would recap a few of the things that can be shown on here :p

Knitting Project bags:

I created a pattern similar to the Grainline Stowe Bag. My version has slightly different dimensions and doesn’t have the same cool fold over on the handle that the Stowe Bag has but this does mean that it can be lined nicely and doesn’t require bias binding.

I have made a few of these and am getting quite a bit of use out of them at the moment, expect to see more of these in the future…

Currently at least one of these is being sent out as a present but depending on time more might be made and issued to non knitting people as a useful bag. I might also size it up to make some foldable shopping bags, but it does use up a surprising amount of material. This might be a good way to use up random bits of polycotton that we have left over from our not so judicious fabric shopping trips.

Hats:

I have knitted quite a few hats this month, I decided to have a run on them in an attempt to try and sell some to friends to raise money for Age UK as I don’t think knitting tiny hats for their smoothie bottles is a good use of my time (especially as Age UK only get 5p from each one sold). But I still have a load to sell.

L-R Suffolk in Marble Chunky, Suffolk in WI Soft and Chunky, Pale Blue Divine, Winter Colourwork Hat, Red and Grey Beloved Aran, Riddari Hat, Blue Simple Hat

Writing out that caption made me realise I need to spend more time putting my projects on Ravelry when I do them, not just when I want to link to them in a blog post!

Drawstring Bags:

Small Drawstring bags are soo useful I decided that I would have a production line session when I was up at Ed’s earlier in the month and produce a load of bags using Jeni’s Tutorial
I just need to go along and add drawstrings to most of them…

Zip Bags:

I am planning on making some zip bags to match some of the other bags I have made. I normally use this tutorial as I like them lined. I think I’m going to need to make a few more for myself!

Mini Ikea Bags:

I am also making some of my Mini Ikea Bags when I get some more webbing. I have some on order and two bags already cut out waiting for it to arrive.

So it looks like I am making lots of bags this year. What are you making?

Blimey, you made loads! You only realise quite how much when you see it all in one post like this, don’t you? Great idea to make a mini version of the Ikea bag:)
