Monday Sevens #92

Here is this weeks “Sunday” Sevens post, linking up to Natalie to give a snap shot view of how the last week has gone.

We changed to blogging these on a Monday to give ourselves more of a chance of actually putting them out on the day that we said we would, and yet here we are blogging a day late again. I’m not sure what happened to Monday to be honest, like most of the days at the moment it made a nice woosh noise as it went rushing past us!

Getting back from Blackpool on Sunday wrote off most of that day and the beginning of last week was just spent catching up with life and organising the week. Nikki is much better at that and it normally results in a nicely laid out page in her bullet journal…

Here is her month page for March (seriously how is it March already!):

Nikki is still keeping up with the lettering practice and is experimenting with different mediums. Here she is trying out the watercolour crayons that we own (for some unknown reason):

If you follow Pippa on Instagram you might have seen that she decided to cast on a Carbeth sweater, both marled and colour blocked! Mason Dixon Knitting had chosen the pattern for their knit-along trying to produce a sweater in the shortest month of the year.

This sweater is now finished and seamed up 🙂 but as you can see is being modelled here by Nikki as it proved to be a little bit small for Pippa (that will teach her to go off-piste and try and change the proportions to suit her style better. But what can I say it looks so squishy and snuggly here, hopefully it will get lots of wear.

Pippa seems to have got some of her sew-jo back and managed to wrestle the tight fitting block, from Melissa Fehr’s Sew Your Own Active Wear book, into submission. And now she has a nice long sleeved base layer top made from lovely viscose knit from Tia Knight

Unless you have been living under a rock you will know that this week the UK weather has been dominated by snow! Thankfully here in Southampton we haven’t exactly had that much compared to the rest of the country but for Southampton this is a LOT considering we very rarely have snow actually settle on the ground here maybe once every 5 years! Although it did play havoc with busses and trains for a few days, the cars got going quicker than the trains. I had a friend drive down from Glasgow on the Friday but another friend couldn’t make it to Southampton from Portsmouth because not a single train was running!

And well when we are snowed into our house there is only one sensible course of action. Fried Brunch:

Why hadn’t I thought of the fried brunch option? It looks magnificent.
Like the Carberth sweater – particularly the sleeve/shoulder detail but suspect that I would find the ‘swingy’ body not right for me. Is that what Pippa was changing? It looks good on Nikki

Lol yeah fried brunch is awesome 🙂
Yes I didn’t think that the cropped wide body would suit me so I cast on for a smaller size then kept knitting til it reached the length I wanted.
Unfortunately the yoke depth didn’t work out quite correctly for me so it ended up being nikki’s.
I think if I knit it again I need to add more rows before I start the yoke shaping to make up for the reduced width.

Love that the jumper looks like a jumper with gloves and cowl over the top – nice unexpected pressie for Nikki! I call it Sunday Sevens despite the fact that, in my case, neither words actually apply very often:) OMG that brunch looks good!

The Sweater looks fabulous Pippa! You must be absolutely gutted it doesn’t fit you 🙁 Am looking at your version thinking how lovely it looks and much nicer not cropped, not boxy and with the colour blocks 🙂

Thanks, yeah slightly gutted but it gives me the chance to knit myself another one 🙂
I don’t think I could ever really pull off that cropped look and I think this is much more my style.
