Nikki’s Me-Made-May 2018 – week 2

So here we have my second instalment of me-made-mayness! Well the beginning half of this week was pretty productive, but the second half of the week hasn’t really allowed me to do much sewing. Unfortunately it was quite busy with lots of funeral preparation, and the rest of the month might not give me much sewing time as I might not have access to a sewing machine for most of it!

I made another swing vest from my self drafted pattern. I absolutely love the pattern on this fabric. =) This was originally going to be bound like the greeny/blue one I made last week. But the binding stuck out too much, so I turned it under and it sits beautifully. This has had a few outings this week as it’s just so easy to wear!

I also made another dress from my modified kimmy dress pattern. This also had another modification to give it slash pockets instead of inseam pockets that were in the green dress from last week. This fabric has a lovely drape and can either be dressed up or down 🙂 I’m also super happy that it has pockets!

I did also start on a cami from a Burda pattern. This is from a very lightweight black viscose. I modified the pattern somewhat, and the fit initially was very weird… but after sticking another pleat in the back it works quite well. But this still needs finishing off on the hems and the straps… Probably shouldn’t leave it too long before I finish it…

From my other makes; the pyjama shorts have become rather a staple this week, although I’ve often teamed them with other pyjama tops in addition to the vest top. I think maybe a long sleeved shirt should go on my to-sew list.

And the very wearable green dress muslin had another outing (mainly because I hadn’t packed my other dress…) but it did certainly add to the bright sunny weather, perfect for our picnic!

I hope everyone else is having fun discovering me-mades they had forgotten, new combinations of items or maybe making new items. I’m pretty happy with how my me-made-may is going so far  as I’ve significantly increased my me-made clothes for everyday wear. Unfortunately I’m going to be living out of a suitcase for part of the rest of the month so I’ll have to see if I can actually get any new makes done in the rest of the month…
