Monday Sevens #72

Here is this weeks “Sunday” Sevens post, linking up to Natalie to give a snap shot view of how the last week has gone.

This last week has been a bit of a week of two halves, Nikki and Philip have been away in Manchester and Pippa has been at home almost all week, only working one day! It must be coming to the end of summer.

Seeing the Doctors on Monday and only working one day meant Pippa had a lot of time to catch up on some knitting projects.
After finishing her cropped jumper last week she managed to get the heels into her Celtic Cross Oatmeal Socks which is a big mile stone as these have been on the needles since before we went up to Scotland.

They were cast on on the 30th April and Finished on the 29th Aug – so took almost exactly 4 months

And she then accidentally cast on a new project :p This one was a bit of a Spontaneous cast on.

After swatching a seed stitch sample for Nikki’s experimentation on how to do an integrated Icord edging on her blanket it was decided that the wool that was used really lent itself to seed stitch and would look great in a cardigan. Well currently it is part way to becoming a cardigan…

Still recovering from being ill during Cowes week Pippa had blood taken on Friday.

If you happen to follow her on instagram you would have seen that this image has made her oddly happy, the last few times she has had to have blood taken they have had to extract it from her wrist instead of the crook of her arm so this is an improvement 🙂

Once everyone was back in Southampton some brain storming and planning took place wrt the blog and what we had done that we needed to catch up with and blog about.

It turns out there is quite a bit as the blog tends to go into tickover mode during the summer as the summer sailing season takes over at least one of our lives.

Lots to catch up on.

In the same vein of organising our lives we sat down one evening and sorted through all the wool that we have in the house, Photographed it and tried to upload it all to Pippa’s Ravelry stash.

This took much longer than expected as it turns out we have a lot more than we thought we did. Nothing in any great volume, except the wool for our blankets. But we have a much better idea of what we have to work from for scrappy projects.

On Saturday Nikki decided that she wanted an indoor picnic so all the furniture was moved in our ‘Dining room’ and a picnic was set up with All of the food!

Sunday night was home made Pizza night.

Home made pizza is a favourite meal in this household and we had a lot of fun this time coming up with topping ideas.
L-R: Farmhouse: Ham, Pineapple, Mushroom; Seafood: Smoked Salmon, Smoked Mackerel, Prawns, Yellow Pepper, Red Onion; Mediterranean: Goats Cheese, Sundried Tomatoes, Olives, Red onion, Red onion chutney, Yellow Peppers; Spicy: Jalapeños, Olives, Salami, Ham, Red Onion

Before I set off for Manchester I decided to do a bit of baking… I have a *lot* of stuff in my baking cupboard that needs using up. But I made some blueberry and banana bread, some chocolate coconut slice and I got in some more dried fruit in the dehydrator!

On the way up we picked up a package from America – Philip impulse bought some squishy octopus plushies from a store called teeturtle. They are so cute, and angry.

Up in Manchester I did a beginner ski course, levels 1-3 but I managed to pick it up so well I even managed to get level 4 done! 🙂 Looking forward to doing some improver lessons. We even got on to the main slope.

I was lucky enough to be able to stay with my friend Becky who I have known since I was about 3, which was so wonderful and we had some lovely chats over copious amounts of alcohol, including this pretty bottle of champagne.

On the way back from Manchester Philip and I dropped in to Oxford and had a little wander round before stopping off at his parents as well on the way home.

Well we did manage to pack in a lot… let’s hope this week is a little calmer.

Great post! Well done on the skiing! Love the champagne bottle – did you keep it? I’m loving the wool with the seed stitch too – as you say, it really works. The scowling octopus did make me laugh 🙂

Thanks 🙂 It was really good fun actually! My friend becky kept the bottle, she uses them as candle holders to go around her bath 🙂
