Monday Sevens #77

Here is this weeks “Sunday” Sevens post, linking up to Natalie to give a snap shot view of how the last week has gone.

This week has been an equally hectic one with lots of different things going on.

Monday: Philip returned to Norwich and Nikki and Pippa went into town to find some yellow material to make a dress for the funeral Pippa was attending on Weds. Apparently yellow is just not the colour of the moment so this was a very hard task. Thankfully John Lewis curtain department managed to produce some suitable fabric, even if it wasn’t very yellow it matched the mustard jumper that was bought for the occasion.

Whilst the fabric was being washed and dried Pippa searched her stash of patterns only to find out that the ones that would have been perfect for this dress had already been moved to Poole in preparation for her winter boost in productivity. So drafting something new was the order of the day…

Once the bodice pattern had been tested and modified it was cut out of the main fabric, and some plain cream fabric so that the bodice could be fully lined.

After two attempts at attaching the skirt correctly it was left overnight and backup was called in!

I would have been better if the skirt had gone in properly first time and hadn’t taken three attempts as Tuesday was blocked off in the calendar as Pippa was going into Hospital to have an endoscopy done and spent most of the afternoon sleeping off the effects of the sedation, after having breakfast at the Sainsbury’s cafe and catching up on some knitting whilst Nikki did the weeks shopping.

Thankfully even with an afternoon completely out of the equation the dress was still finished in time for an early start on Weds to travel up to Watford for the Funeral of an old friend from Pelican. As a life long Watford FC fan the funeral colour was yellow, hence the dress search, and it was great to see some friends I haven’t seen in years. It would have been better if it was under nicer circumstances but it was nice all the same. Rest in Peace, Spike.

I had managed to get my tan boots back into a working order so that I could wear them for the Funeral but half way through the day the zip finally gave up the ghost completely…

After all the lovely weather we have had this summer Autumn is finally here with avengeance, and the colours on the trees are really changing to show this! This lovely show of colour was compensation for another day taken up with medical professionals on Thursday.

Friday and Pippa was back to work at Sunsail and with huge winds forecast over the weekend which would be worst (on the south coast) than Ex-Hurricane Orphelia. a lot of the day was taken up with sorting the boats out to make sure that there was no damage caused by the strong winds and high tides. Although the weather did get the better of her on the way home as she got caught in one of the heavy downpours on the way to the station!

Thank you. You are right I have had better weeks. But we survive.
Thanks, I really like the dress I night have to modify the neck line a little to make it slightly more wearable but I think it should get quite a bit of use 🙂

Oh dear, an endoscopy isn’t fun – hope all went well. Breakfast looked nice, though:)
It’s great having a sister that can muck in when the going gets tough and good to see that the dress was finished in time for the funeral. Sad to say goodbye to an old friend, but it seems it was done in style, not to mention colour! Have a good week both!
