#StitchingSanta Reveal – Nikki

So this year I took part for the first time in the #StitchingSanta organised by the wonderful Sheila at sewchet, pippa had done this last year and was doing both the sewing and the knitting swaps, but I opted just to do the sewing swap. Maybe if I get some more knitting done I might try a knitting swap in the future.

I received my parcel in december and got halfway through opening it before I realised this could possibly be my stitching santa parcel instead of an online shopping delivery… I got my otherhalf to double check that it was wrapped inside and that I wasn’t going to open it early! Luckily it was all beautifully wrapped and I got a glimpse of what was to come before I put it away with the other presents to open at Christmas.

To say I was excited was a bit of an understatement! I mean look at all those wonderful looking packages!

Pippa and I sat down in the evening after the busy Christmas day rush to open our lovely presents, and wow was I blown away by the incredible generosity of my sender! My parcel was sent to me by Kim of This happy homemade life and it was just full of so many goodies!

Pin cushion – so cute, almost too cute for me to stick pins into!

Simplicity dress pattern (which looks like the sort of style I love), an Amy butler tunic pattern, Simple sewing book – I’ve already had a look through this and the lunch bag looks like a perfect use for some oilcloth which I have been wanting to craft with for a little while.

Monochrome Charm squares – hopefully I can make a little quilt with this.

Wow is all I can say for this present. I’m absolutely astounded by the generosity and creativity of Kim in her creation of this stitching santa. Thank you so so much!

Looks like a great haul – even though I am a knitter. I think we should all wrap our secret Santa parcels properly inside. My secret Santa this year wasn’t wrapped inside and only an A5 envelope, so I had mine open before I had any chance to know what it was 🙁 The year before, Pippa was my Santa and the parcel was well wrapped with a lovely card and note of explanation about why she had sent what – it made it a really wonderful experience. This year’s parcel would have probably put me off doing it again next year if I hadn’t had Pippa’s the year before.

🙁 I’m glad you liked it last year. Yeah I think that if they aren’t wrapped inside there should at least be some kind of identification on the outside.
I’m glad I did both again this year as if I had just done my knitting one I think I would have been a bit disappointed considering the amount I sent out, and the amount Nikki got. But I think I’ll still do it again next year, I enjoy making the parcels to send out as well.
