Monday Sevens #45

Here is this weeks “Sunday” Sevens post, linking up to Natalie to give a snap shot view of how the last week has gone.

Nikki was very excited this week when she received her #stitchingsanta present and opened the outer packaging to find a whole load of things inside!! She’s definitely going to have fun unwrapping those on Christmas day. I got one of my santa presents completed and sent off to my recipient. I hope it doesn’t take too long to get there.

I got lovely gift from my Aunt this week of a handmade wreath, which is made as a 3D bauble, definitely more complicated than I could have managed!

In my crafting this week I discovered that I didn’t have any rulers that were long enough to use in making bias binding… so I got creative and used my IKEA wrapping paper!

This week was our parents’ work Christmas dinner so I made my way up to London to attend that. I wasn’t sure I had anything to wear for smart casual festive… So I made up a top from a remnant we had picked up in the week (unfortunately a little shorter than I would have liked, but definitely festive). The dinner itself was very tasty, an Argentinian take on Christmas dinner, steak with stuffing… and dulche de leche cheesecake which was so delightful!

After this I headed home and was confronted with an entire table of homemade chinese food that Nikki had made with some friends. Sushi, spring rolls, prawn toast, chow mein and more… no-one was going hungry today.

Christmas is always a time when traditions come out and is a time for spending with family and friends, and naturally eating lots of food… Chestnut stuffing is something that was always a tradition as we were growing up, and now as we have started the tradition of having a Christmas dinner with friends here (7 years strong now) we have carried on some of our other traditions in that meal.

Nikki once again got super organised for gift giving and made macarons and sorted gifts for all of our guests for our dinner which they really enjoyed (or else they faked it really well…)

We’re trying to start a few more traditions ourselves, so Nikki and Philip had a very grown up evening and sat down and wrote out cards to a number of our friends and relatives. I think next year Nikki might try printing out the address labels though since it takes a very long time otherwise! But definitely worth taking the time to send cards and show you are thinking of people at Christmas time!

I hope all of your Christmas preparations are going smoothly!!

Looks like you’re both pretty talented – homemade Chinese sounds divine! Very festive top for what sounds like an interesting version of a Christmas meal. We’ve got to write and send our Christmas cards today…….

Exciting! Thank you Pippa – my parcel arrived today and looks gorgeous. It went straight under the tree – I didn’t have a squeeze of it or anything – I love surprises. Lynn x x

Just a thank you from an incredibly happy stitching Santa recipient. My parcel was full of magnificence and it made me incredibly happy. I will blog about it when I can (it may take a few days to get sorted out – sorry) but couldn’t wait to acknowledge it and say how wonderful it is. Again, thank you
