Here is this weeks Sunday Sevens from Natalie at Thread and Bobbins, This week I have struggled a bit with motivation to do anything, I think it comes from knowing that I am leaving but not knowing actually when yet, some time ‘next’ week.
1 ) This week started with a bit more diy. We got a new dresser from gum tree which should have fitted beside our fireplace but the house is not quite square and it didn’t quite fit.
So I ended up taking the skirting board off and removing some bricks from beside the fire place. There are very few times that I’m grateful that the previous owner of the house was useless at diy, but this was one of them.
2 ) On the way back to Poole I started another hat. Still using the Divine pattern but using DK instead of worsted weight. This was a much smoother yarn as well which helped it crochet up so much faster. It took me nearly a week to get to the end of the shells originally, the DK took about 24 hours to complete.
3)
4 ) The weather has turned lovely during the week and I have been out in the garden recently. I even had breakfast out there one day.
5 ) Thursday was my day to get my stitches out and my last chiropractor appointment for a while. This meant walking into the village twice in one day…
6 ) When walking to my Chiropractors appointment I passed one of the charity shops which had a yoga mat for a fiver outside, I caved and bought one which resulted in me getting round to finally blocking my green cardigan.
7 ) I printed up the missing pages for my Seamwork Paxson jumper and made it up. Unfortunately not only did my sewing machine really not like the fabric I was using, to the extent that it wouldn’t actually make a stitch for inches at a time! But the fit ended up being really off. I’m not 100% sure why, the neck line is a bit small and overall the jumper is a bit large. I’m going to try and sort those two things and see what it looks like then… Cross your fingers for me.
8 ) On Saturday my parents came over and my mother and I went through one of my Nan’s wardrobes of clothes that she never wears to try and sort out what to send to charity, Well we threw out about 3 things! The rest we split between ourselves, I have gained a few new coats just in time for Summer!
I also gained some clothes, this rather bright sleeveless dress, a number of tweed skirts and even a real Harris Tweed jacket. Some of the clothes need some repairs as they have been nibbled a bit by moths and had picked up a little mildew/mould from being in the wardrobe with little air circulation. Sat night and the whole of Sunday my house smelt like wet wool after I washed all of the clothes!
So impressed, not only are you so talented in the things I already knew about, but you do DIY and what a genius idea about the yoga mat!
Aww thanks.
Yeah it is always amusing when we do diy in our house. Nikki and I are some what more practical than our other halves. 🙂
Lovely to see you are still using the mouse pin cushion!
Yeah thank you. That and the scissors are really useful. I can’t imagine how I got along with out one before!
Looks like you’ve fit a lot in the last week, loving the crocheted hat! And a good idea for the yoga mat, Ive not seen them used for blocking before. 🙂
Thanks. It’s amazing what a snap shot of a week can sum up. I still feel like I was really unproductive.
I’ve seen the mats that you clip together for kids play areas and thought that they essentially do the same thing…
I’ve never heard of blocking on a yoga mat but that’s a great idea! I don’t think the jumper you made looks too large, it looks like a comfy fit 🙂 Love the coats you’ve acquired too!
